auto correct spelling: unable to turn off

Am using Mailbox Lite 1.0.9, on OS X El Capitan 10.11.1.

Whenever I go into Preferences > Appearance and uncheck Auto correct spelling, it does uncheck this option. But when I close preferences and open it again, this option appears to be checked again. Repeated this several times -- remains on, whatever I do.
(I need it to remain off, as I write in many different languages)

Anyone experiencing the same?

Thanks for any feedback,

Mike
